Introduction

All of the hops publications and resources described on this page can be viewed on the Virginia Cooperative Extension hops website at http://www.ext.vt.edu/topics/agriculture/commercial-horticulture/hops/index.html. The site also contains presentations from hops workshops, upcoming industry events, useful links, and more.

  • Virginia Cooperative Extension Hops Publications: These include factsheets, pest management guides, Virginia grower survey results, and more.

  • Hops Analysis from the Virginia Tech Enology Analytical Services Laboratory: The lab can report on moisture, acids, and essential oils from hop samples submitted.

  • Soil Testing: Samples submitted to Virginia Tech with the crop code for hops (code 75) will return with fertilizer and lime recommendations. To collect and submit a sample, contact your local Extension office.

  • Weed Identification Clinic, Plant Disease Clinic, and Insect Identification Lab: Each of these services from Virginia Tech can be accessed via your local Extension agent.
